Works on all MiVoice Business platform variants with the following products:
Microsoft Exchange on Premises - Sold by Microsoft to some customers.
Hosted Microsoft Exchange - Sold by Microsoft to service providers who offer a hosted e-mail service to their customers.
Gmail
NOTE: Embedded Unified Messaging (UM) may work with an open source or free, or less costly IMAP mail server; however, this configuration is not supported.
Requires IMAPv4 capable e-mail client.
If a BlackBerry device is set up to synchronize with an e-mail server (IMAP capable), all e-mail messages received in the e-mail client are sent to the BlackBerry. However, voice messages received in the e-mail client are not sent to the BlackBerry.
Not compatible with EMEM's Forward Voice Mail to Email feature (cannot have both enabled against a mailbox).
Messages that are marked confidential do not included the voice mail as an attachment. Instead, an informational message (to play the voice message from the TUI) is placed in the recipient's Inbox.
Supports the following languages:

French (European)
French (Canada)

Key capabilities and limitations of Embedded UM’s IMAP client implementation:
Supports IMAP clear text connections on TCP port 143.
Supports secure IMAP connections using SSL over TCP port 993.
Supports the STARTTLS command on a clear text connection as long as the server informs the Embedded UM IMAP client of this capability. The STARTTLS command initiated a secure TLS connection with the IMAP server over TCP port 143.
Supports IDLE mode. IDLE mode reduces the pressure on the IMAP client to poll the server for changes.
Uses the APPEND command to push the e-mail messages to the IMAP server. APPEND has the advantage over other mail delivery options, such as SMTP - the Embedded UM client knows for certain that the message was successfully stored on the IMAP server. Some IMAP servers have a history of refusing to let clients append messages to the server, however this functionality works with both MS Exchange and Zimbra.
Embedded UM does not support the synchronization of Record-a-Call messages with an IMAP server.
User passwords are changed through Mitel Performance Analytics (MPA) (where supported and provisioned), Embedded System Management (ESM), Active Directory (AD), or Desktop Tool. The MPA application allows end users to change their own passwords instead of an administrator through either ESM or Active Directory AD. MiVoice Business platforms not using AD or that do not support MPA are restricted to using static user passwords.
